Is this for real?

This newspaper clipping is doing the email rounds - but no-one seems to know where it came from. Is it for real? I can well believe it.

Only slightly less naive is this statement:
"Our vision is to work for a world in which all humans respect and live in harmony with all other members of the animal kingdom"
A Miss World contestant? No, it's the RSPCA - in a recruitment ad for a 'Major Donor and Trust Account Manager' earning £31,500 to "be involved in the full donor lifecycle, further developing cases for support for all programmes including animal centres, hospitals and education programmes; researching donors and charitable trusts; coordinating cultivation events and building relationships with existing and potential donors".

I love that clipping, I posted it after seeing it on mausers and muffins. Maybe its a Gonzo fact, where the story is more illustrative than factual?

That newspaper comment has to have been posted by a hunter trying to ridicule supermarket meat eaters!

As for the RSPCA quote...do stalkers and shooters not live in harmony with their quarry and show it the utmost respect? maybe we are working towards the same goal?!

Hi Vicky, yes it does sound like satire, doesn't it? Even so, I know a few people who say things like that.

As for the RSPCA, I have a feeling that eating animals isn't quite the harmony they have in mind, but I'll be happy to be proved wrong.

No, they do ultimatley expect us to live in a Disney-esque fantasy! But to be fair to them (am I sickening for something?!) the RSPCA have done a lot to support better welfare in animals farmed for meat and milk; a much more sensible approach than just shouting about how meat is murder like some other 'animal rights' groups.

James you said "I know a few people who say things like that" There are a few people at school who genuinely think sausages come from tesco, ducks lay ducklings not eggs, and that a haggis is a real animal. There was one person actually thought that beef, pork and venison had nothing to do with cows, pigs and deer that they were a completely different animal. Some people are absolutely clueless.
