Pigeonshooting on The Shooting Show

Here's the latest episode of The Shooting Show, with my piece on Geoff Garrod shooting pigeons over rape. That was an enjoyable day's filming, and I managed to capture a good few pigeons being hit - always a challenge with video!

Schools Challenge TV CLA Game Fair preview

Here's the latest episode of Schools Challenge TV, which this week features a preview of the CLA Game Fair. I love filming at Oxford Gun Co with the youngsters in the Schools Challenge Academy, their enthusiasm for shooting is so infectious! I'll be filming at Oxford Gun Co again this Saturday - it's their open day so there's lots going on. If you're there, come and say hello - I'll be the one with a bleedin' great video camera on a tripod!

Gary Green on The Shooting Show

This week's The Shooting Show features an item I filmed with foxshooter Gary Green. It follows him over a full day and night of trying to get a particularly elusive vixen that had evaded him for over a year. Did he succeed? Watch and find out!

Video - Merkel & Leica go foxing with Tim Pilbeam

Here's a video I made recently for Merkel, the German gunmaker. It's the story of their visit to top British foxshooter Tim Pilbeam to find out how we Brits go about shooting foxes at night - something that isn't possible in most countries in Europe due to their different laws.

Chinese Water Deer on The Shooting Show

Check out this week's episode - I did a bit of the behind-the-scenes stuff on the CWD sequence. Actually I'm being far too modest, I filmed and edited that segment myself!

That's told me then

This charming missive arrives from one peter@passwordpublish.co.uk:

Brian May has a PhD in astrophysics from Imperial College which I think makes him a scientist and more qualified than you, a mere hack for the hunting fraternity, and is the current Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University. He is also a well-known animal defender against the likes of you and your chums. He is right about bovine TB as I'm sure you know, you just like killing animals too much to admit it. Vaccination is the usual way we treat diseases whether human or animal, not by killing the patient. The list of 'vets' you quote are all tied up with the so-called 'game' industry and will say anything wanted of them, such as the whole scientific panel which examined the scientific 10-year survey of culling are wrong. And your chums are already killing badgers as we all know, they just hide them as road kill and hope the police won't come calling.

I've got my eye on you, sick filth.

I do hope "Peter" is not a GP. I'd hate to think of human TB patients being treated with a vaccination.

New blog gone

UPDATE 25/10/12: Yes, I started a new blog, new job... that was over a year ago now, things change, and now I'm back to doing what I love - freelance writing on all things shooting and countryside, with a bit of photography and videomaking thrown in.

So ignore the crossed-through links and stuff below as that's all out of date. Maybe, just maybe, I will start posting the odd thing here again. Drop in from time to time and see what's going on.

And if you want to get in touch, all the usual contact details on this page will reach me. That's james@marchington.com for email, and telephone 07836 350652. I've been trying to add a voicemail widgetty thing here too, but since tinkering with the template it's vanished. So good old email or phone it is then, for now at least.

James

If you enjoyed reading this blog, then check out my new blog on Wordpress - you'll find it at http://marchington.wordpress.com/. The new blog is a little different - less about me and my opinions, and more about stories I'm working on for various Blaze Publishing magazines. Hope to see you there!
